Artistically Inspirational Reads

I'm finding the following books very helpful and inspiring in my art life and thought I would share them with you too:
The Crafter's Devotional has been helpful for me to do at least one creative activity each day. There are a several crafts that I've never done before such as making a journal necklace or water webbing. There are also activities that I have done before such as simply coloring with crayons or collages. There is an activity for everyday, but it's not always a "create something" activity, sometimes it's just looking at things that inspire like old photos.

I cannot say enough good things about this book! So many neat and pretty simple sewing ideas such as a wall hanging with pockets or Sideways Square Skirts. In the beginning of the book the basics of sewing is explained- loaded with terminology and lists of materials to have to get started.  Not only does this book have some awesome sewing ideas but also a an envelope in the back of the book containing every pattern for each idea featured in the book.

This book has so many great ideas for scrapbook-ing. The book is filled with layout ideas, embellishment ideas, and picture placement techniques. It is very helpful and inspirational in my scrapbook-ing adventures.

To be honest I just got this book and have not read it yet, but I have always wanted to learn more about mixed media. Just by flipping through the pages I can already tell I'm going to learn a lot and have a lot of fun learning this new craft!

 This book has a lot of cool knitted hat designs and I cannot wait to try out the patterns!

Sarie's Photography- My sister's Photo Art {Vintage Photography}

      I love Sarie's Photography and not just because I am a bias sister, but because she really is talented and takes wonderful photos. I always enjoy when she gets the chance to take our family's photos. But not only does she do a wonderful job capturing people in photo but she is really good at capturing still life! Right now I'm really digging her Vintage Photography collection. Check it out!

Knitted Head Wraps

  Growing up, I used to spend my afternoons watching my Grandma Lucy crocheting all kinds of nifty things and she was SO good at it! So recently, I've decided to try my hand at it and I really enjoy it! My favorite thing right now to crochet is flowers. It's pretty fun. Also I've started knitting as well. I have combined these two techniques to make knitted floral head wraps. The two head wraps featured in this post are now listed in my Etsy shop. They are pretty basic patterns and I hope to become more skilled and make more elaborate ones soon to add to my shop as well. :)

i heart scrapbook-ing

 So in the last few months I've really been getting into scrapbook-ing! My sis and I used to scrapbook a little back in high school, but we never really went all out with it or anything. A few months ago a couple of my friends at church invited me to their scrapbook-ing night at the church and so I went with my humble supply of scrapbook-ing supplies and  little know-how. I was SO inspired by their talent and creations. Now I've got bit of a generous (and growing) supply of scrapbook-ing things and I'm continuing to learn from the girls different techniques and such. I look forward to our once a month scrapbook-ing nights and hanging out with the girls. Here is a new scrapbook I started called "Our Story".
